What is a CLI?

This article gives a rough guide to what a CLI is, with respect to the MESH Voice phone system.

Any time you make telephone call your connection has to give an identity out, this is the CLI, or Caller Line Identification.  All MESH Voice extensions are required to have a CLI set on them.  If a client wishes to withhold their number then the extension can be set to Anonymous - here the phone at the other end will display Private Number, Withheld, or a similar message.

If a client wishes to set their CLI to a number which is not in the MESH Voice system they will need to provide proof of ownership.
